The first time I designed was for a charity fashion show for UC Irvine's Fashion Interest group. After visiting the FIDM debut in 2013, ideas of what I wanted to create ran through my head as I day-dreamed about how amazing it would be to be a designer walking the runway with my models. Not only was I amazed at what the designers created but inspired by the challenges and struggles they surpass to get where they are. It is truly inspirational.

The name of my line for the FIG fashion show is called Kol Kollection, which was suggested by one of my designer friends. I chose this name because I felt like the outfits I designed represented a collection rather than a set theme. And of course the "Kol" in kollection signifies my last name. I created 6 unique interlinked pieces based on my personal inspirations. My line accentuates and embodies the sensual side of femininity and shows the beauty in women no matter the height and size. I also named each of the pieces after my models because I believe that they are beautiful and positively unique in their own ways. I am so blessed to have these girls model for me, they are what made the garments so lovely.

I was the Director of Designers last year for FIG and I gave all designers including myself 3 months to design 4-6 pieces. At first my goal was to do 5, but I fell in love with it so much, I had to add another. I honestly taught myself to sew through online tutorials and books, so thank you to the talented people on youtube! Growing up, my mom taught me how to use an industrial sewing machine and I would help her make garment pieces, eventually leading up to an entire outfit. One of the things I learned from this experience is that if you are excited about pulling all-nighters and spending countless hours on a specific hobby, then it is your true passion! I was also going to school at the time and somehow I couldn't manage to study past 1am while I was able to stay up until 6am sewing. One of the things that kept me going was when my boyfriend showed me Eric Thomas's motivational speech "Secrets to Success" and till this day it is what motivates me to strive!
"Most of you said that you want to be successful, but you don’t want it bad. You just kinda want it. You don’t want it bad than you want to party. You don’t want it as much as you want to be cool. Most of you don’t want success as much as you want to sleep! Some of you loves sleep more than they love success. And I am here to tell you today: If you are wanting to be successful, you have to be willing to give up sleep. You gotta be willing to work on having 3 hours or 2 hours of sleep. If you really want to be successful, somedays you might even have to stay up 3 days in a row. Because if you go to sleep, you might miss the opportunity to be successful. You gotta want to be successful so bad, that you forget to eat. That’s how bad you gotta want it." - Eric Thomas
"When you want to SUCCEED as bad as you want to BREATHE then you will be SUCCESSFUL" - Eric Thomas

Remember to dream big and never give up because amazing things do happen <3 Thank you!
